Other costs

You will need to cover the cost of the following items. Some of these items will only need to be purchased once, others may be “as needed”.
– Raised bed kits

–Drip Irrigation Systems
– Fertilizers
– Organic or other insecticides, herbicides
– Plant supports

Your plants and seeds are carefully raised and hand chosen for quality by us, and their cost is included in your seasonal contract. Your vegetable survey results will determine what will be grown in your garden.

Our experienced Yardeners will use their gardening knowledge to maximize the potential of your newly installed gardens.  They will usually begin in late February or early March by planting salad crops such as lettuces, radishes, onions, spinach, kale, kohlrabi, carrots, beets, and other cool season crops depending on what you prefer to grow.  These tender crops will need to be protected by a floating row cover that will keep frost, harsh winds, and hungry critters away from your plants. These floating row covers make a “salad chute” that will help them thrive and provide you with the best possible ingredients for salads as early as April.

Your Yardener will visit and inspect your garden, plant additional crops, pull weeds, and ensure the garden is growing at its peak performance.  You’ll receive a video progress report of what is going on in your garden each time they visit. The report will include myriad information about what’s growing, when and how to harvest, photographs, and recipes for using those fresh veggies!

As the seasons change, your Yardener will use “Succession Gardening” methods to move from early spring to summer crops.  The Yardener will continue to consult with you about your needs and will provide and plant all of the seeds and plants needed to maximize your yield throughout the summer and into fall.  Expect to have something to eat fresh out of the garden from April through November depending on the severity of the weather.
